Favourite Criterion This Week: Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs

Fashion on fashion because… well, fashion! I loved this episode and I really dug their picks. There’s something fun about watching people choose movies so naturally, like they’re just pulling favorites off the shelf and talking you into them in real time.

Also, that early Miloš Forman pick has me curious because I still haven’t seen it. And yes fair warning maybe skip Funny Games if you’re already feeling paranoid. That thing is not “funny” in the cozy sense. It’s bleak, mean, and somehow more depressing than Big Bad Wolves. Very good, but definitely not a popcorn-and-relax kind of night.

Twenty is a pretty solid starter stack for anyone looking to get into collecting films. Enough to feel like a real shelf, not so many that your wallet starts quietly sobbing.

Should all 20 be Criterion? Probably not. Criterion is great, but a collection should feel like you, a little classy, a little weird, a few comfort watches, and maybe one disc you bought at 2 a.m. because the cover art looked cool.
